🍲 Crock Pot Friday — Guide & Chapter Snapshot
A simple, fun companion to the lesson Small Rituals, Big Impact.
Small rituals make big teams.
This game is just to have some fun with the chapter story and to reinforce how small team rituals can bring people together in profound ways. When you create a tiny, repeatable moment that feels good and means something, stress drops, trust rises, and work gets more human. You feel excited to be part of a team and do great things together—and your career gets lighter, clearer, more fulfilling.
“Rituals aren’t extra—they are the culture.”What this game is
A light, playful take on our story. Six mystery crock pots “arrive.” You rate each dish from 1–5 stars. At the end, the top dish is crowned The Golden Crock Pot. The point isn’t food—it’s how a tiny tradition can unite a crew.
How to play
Click Start in the game. For each round, read the dish, rate it ★1–★5, watch your score and the timer, finish all 6 rounds, then share your winner. It’s fun—and it locks in the lesson.
Why to play
Practice the message: small, visible, named rituals spread. They turn coworkers into teammates. They lower friction and raise pride. They’re bottom-up, human, and free.
Less stress. More connection. Better days.
Your turn (keep it tiny)
What’s your Crock Pot Friday? Start something you can repeat authentically: a “Friday Sweep,” a “One-Word Check-in,” a chalk mark “all-clear.” Name it, make it visible, and tell the story behind it. Don’t force it—feel your team, speak up, try things. Everyone wants to be part of something great. Be the spark.

It was the dead of winter, the kind where the shop floor feels colder than the air outside. The mechanics were exhausted, hands stiff from the cold, morale hanging low. That’s when one of them rolled in with a crock pot full of chili. No announcement. No HR flyer. Just plugged it in, let the smell drift through the garage, and said, “Lunch is on me today.”
The next Friday, someone else brought a pot—stew this time. Then another. Before long, it became a ritual: Crock Pot Friday. Everyone took turns. Lunch wasn’t eaten hunched over toolboxes anymore—they sat together, laughed, rated each dish, and started a scoreboard.
By spring, they weren’t just fixing cars—they were building anticipation for the year-end Crock Pot Bonanza, where the crew crowned the winner with the Golden Crock Pot. A joke at first, but by the time winter rolled around again, it was tradition.
One mechanic told me later, “It wasn’t about the food. It was about knowing somebody cared enough to make Friday worth looking forward to.”
That’s what rituals do. They turn routine into meaning, coworkers into teammates, and cold shifts into warm memories.
As author James Kerr wrote in Legacy about the All Blacks rugby team: “It’s not the big things, but the small things, done well, that make the difference.”
