Deer Pressure Discussion

🐾 Deer / Rabit Pressure Conversation

Did you have the deer and other animal conversation? Did you tell them there is no 100% guarantee and why? Are they clear on the deer?

“Any plant may be eaten by deer. We can reduce the risk by selecting plants that are less likely to be eaten. Please understand that plants range from very likely to be eaten to very unlikely to be eaten. The further we get into the very unlikely to be eaten range the less plant choices we have, so we may have to compromise on aesthetics to achieve a more deer resistant planting plan. On the other extreme, using some less deer resistant plants will give us more plants to choose from and likely result in a better look aesthetically but puts you more at risk for deer damage. This is all important because we want you to love the look of your landscape but we cannot control the actions of a wild animal and we do not warranty plants damaged by deer. Deer spray can help reduce the risk but is not a guarantee. We will not be liable for plants that are damaged by deer while on our spray program, and there may be additional costs associated with implementing additional sprays or protection beyond what is in your program. The bottom line is our goal is to choose plants that look great in your landscape. If deer are present, there will likely be some tradeoff between deer risk and aesthetics; you are assuming the risk as we use less deer resistant plants to achieve your desired look.”
Ask the client: “Are you clear on the deer?”
